It's difficult not to love the summer; whether you are having a day out at the seaside or just lounging in your back garden, there is something for everyone to do in summer. Saying this, one of the few drawbacks of the summer can be the long, hot sticky evenings.
It can be frustrating laying in a tangle of sweat-drenched sheets, frustratingly watching the clock tick towards the time you have to get up for work. At these moments, warm, cosy winter nights snuggled up in your bedding can look very appealing indeed.
It doesn't, however, have to be like this. Here are some bedding tips that can keep you cool in the summer time, ensuring that you always catch those essential ZZZs.
1. Keep them Clean
Clean bedding is essential if you want a good night's sleep at any time of year, not just in summer. That said, in summer it can really aid you in getting your sleep. The reason for this is that clean bedding is substantially more breathable. You won't be bogged down when you sleep by muggy, dirty bedding.
2. Lose the duvet
Many grow attached to their duvet and the thought of getting rid of it during the summer months can somewhat perturb them. In a primitive, irrational sense, you can grow quite attached it. It may alarm some people to learn then, that the duvet is not essential in the summer.
You can manage with just your bed sheets in the peak of summer. It may take a couple of nights to get used to this, but it can really keep you cool once you get used to it. If you do insist on having a quilt, you may want to invest in one that is slightly more lightweight.
3. White Sheets
Having white sheets can keep you cool in the summer months. Blacks and dark hues trap heat, which is not what you want when you are already quite warm. You may want to have two different sets of bedding, one for winter, and one for summer. Heat can escape through white sheets, which is essential on the roasting hot summer evenings.
Follow these three steps and your bedding will help you keep cool in the summertime. A good night's sleep is absolutely essential if you want to operate at full capacity the next day. Don't let your bed linen hold you back.
